Time off
During Redundancy

Long serving employees who have been given notice of dismissal by reason of redundancy are entitled to take a reasonable amount of time off to look for a new job or arrange training for some other future employment.

The time off must be paid at a rate not more than 40% of the employee’s weeks’ pay.

The employer can reasonably refuse time off, but it should be aware that there are no reported cases as to when refusal to give someone time off has been found to have been reasonable.
